About The Event
This presentation will include an overview of the different types of social deficits that children may demonstrate, a summary of the recent research on social skills training, and a description of best practice guidelines for the provision of social support. In addition to a discussion on best practices, parents will also obtain information about community-based social skills groups/programs and resources for supporting the social development of children at home.
Please Note: This presentation will NOT include a discussion of diagnostic criteria or a lengthy description of assessment procedures. Some foundational understanding of developmental challenges that are associated with social skills weaknesses is encouraged (e.g., ADHD, ASD, NVLD, Anxiety).
